Birds, Bugs, & Botanicals (for Wellesley College Botanic Gardens)
In this class we’ll explore plants’ relationships with animals and pollinators and learn ways to incorporate them into your botanical artwork. Focus on how to draw and paint birds and insects with accuracy, and also how to source and collect reference material. You will gather inspiration for including these important partners into your botanical work to add additional context to your paintings or nature journal. Pending weather and restrictions, we will meet for the nal class at Mass Hort to discuss and share our work and tour the gardens to observe and sketch our subjects in their live environment.

Watercolor Botanical Sketchbook - Spring ‘21 (for Wellesley College Botanic Gardens)
In this online class, we’ll discover how to use our watercolor sketchbooks as a fun way to explore and develop our botanical art skills. We’ll practice essential watercolor techniques, color mixing and matching, and how to quickly capture the textures, blooms, and colors of late spring and summer. The class will feature live “paint-along” demos and discussions, weekly sketching prompts, one-on-one instructor feedback, and inspiration for your own sketchbook practice. For all experience levels.

Watercolor Botanical Sketchbook (for Wellesley College Botanic Gardens)
In this online class participants will receive an intro to watercolor painting and color mixing using a small set of paint colors and a watercolor-friendly sketchbook. We’ll cover key watercolor techniques and the basics of mixing and layering color through fun nature-inspired exercises. The class will feature live 'paint-along' demos and discussion, an at-home class project, one-on-one feedback, and ideas to inspire your own sketchbook practice.
