In this online class, Tara Connaughton will guide you as you take the artistic opportunity to study the beautiful and varied indoor plants available in our local greenhouses during the colder winter months.

(South Shore Art Center - Cohasset, MA) This class will offer a supportive and inspiring environment to nurture your artistic practice and hone your watercolor painting skills. Students can follow provided prompts and demonstrations, or work from their own references, with plentiful one-on-one instructor feedback and guidance. Demos and discussion will be tailored to the class and focused on approaching different subjects, painting technique, and color theory concepts. This class is suitable for students with some prior watercolor experience.

In this two-day class, we’ll focus on line and value with studies of Fall subjects using neutral tones of inks and watercolor paint. We’ll practice our observation and drawing skills, then learn techniques to add value, texture, and detail using brushes and traditional dip pens. 

Explore the emerging gardens of the season while fostering your observation, drawing, and painting skills in this 3-day class with instructor Tara Connaughton. Students will focus in on their chosen garden as we capture a variety of botanical illustrations and studies in our sketchbooks. We’ll discuss a variety of drawing and painting methods to simplify subjects while still maintaining accuracy, how to utilize different mediums to create variety in your drawings, and page ideas and prompts that will keep you inspired to fill your sketchbook pages all summer long.
